Artist's Comments

***I have a hobby of studying animation by watching and analyzing animated features such as movies and cartoon shows. For kicks, I often draw characters from these features in my own art style.***

More fanart for “Danny Phantom”. I can’t help it; the characters are too fun to draw. ^_^ Anyway, this drawing is of one of my favorite ghosts in the show: the Dragon Ghost. Why is it my favorite ghost? I mean, it’s a personification of anger; anyone wearing the Amulet of Eragon turns into this dragon when they get ticked off. So it’s not like the dragon is a dynamic character.

The answer is that I’m not interested in it as a character--I’m interested in it as a DRAGON! I could go on all day with how much I love dragons but I’ll stick to just saying that I LOVE DRAGONS. Drawing dragons used to be a specialty of mine. For some reason, I haven’t been able to complete a drawing for a long time. So I figured a good way to get back in the groove would be to tackle drawing the Dragon Ghost from DP. It was actually a lot of fun to convert into my own style because it was so similar to the dragons I draw already. I added a claw motif on the jewel in the amulet just for kicks; it may or may not still be there when I outline and color the drawing. I also added some more detail to the creature.

Used:
-mechanical pencil with 0.5 lead
-trusty eraser
-computer paper
-several screenshots of the “Parental Bonding” episode to make sure I drew the darn sucker right
-three Shakespeare class sessions (I draw during lectures to help me pay better attention. Go figure.)

Excellent job. I haven't seen this episode in a while.

It seems that the forearms and wings are on the small side thought. Everything else works well.

Wow that's great! It's kinda like this one kid at my last schools drawings, he drew dragons all day basicly :XD: He was also very annoying... anyways, it looks almost the same!

It's one of my favorite eps just for the dragon. ^_^ It's also played a minor role in two other episodes so far.

The forearms aren't too small; it's the back legs that are too big. I have trouble with drawing dragon hind quarters. Seems the only types of rear dragon legs I can draw are something resembling a kangaroo or a person (basically, I draw better biped dragons than quadruped). I actually managed to keep this dragon's back legs shorter than usual in an effort to remain true to the original design.

The wings are small for two reasons: 1) I wanted them to fit on paper and I didn't want to hide the dragon, and 2) they are at a bit of an angle so they look smaller than they really are (it should look better when I color and shade it). Since the dragon's wings in the show tend to be inconsistent in size, I wasn't too worried about it.

Yeah I remember one of the other two...The one when Danny goes to the ghost zone to get his mother's gift.
